HELLO

I’m Roger Martin

About me

“What will success look like for you?”

What Do I Do?
I support clients to discover their first real career, change their current role, or grow and progress their existing one.

I am passionate about helping my clients move forward in their career. I believe a person’s background, education or previous employment, should not be the experience that defines them and the rest of their working life. I help them realise their true potential by supporting them to find an attainable and realistic path forward. Or put another way, whatever my clients do now, whether employed or not, should not be the be-all and end-all of what they can achieve in the future.

My aim is to support them with all aspects of their careers including,

  • Career choice and development – What kind of person are you? What career will match your requirements and how to achieve it?
  • Where to start – What are the first steps that need to be taken, and what else needs to be considered?
  • Motivation and confidence – The importance of these attributes and how to go about raising them.
  • CV preparation – I help make CVs and application forms stand out from the crowd and get noticed
  • Interview techniques – What needs to be prepared in advance? What questions will be asked, and what questions should you ask at the end?
  • What are your long term career goals and what are the challenges you face getting there?

And much more!

Qualifications and Professional Experience
I am a Registered Career Development Professional with the Careers Development Institute. You can see my profile here. My qualifications include the Diploma in Careers Guidance, Masters in Careers Management, and qualifications in Coaching.

I have worked for one of the largest Career Service companies in London and more recently for the Open University, the largest university in the UK. For both organisations, I have been a career/education adviser, manager and trainer of careers practitioners and job support colleagues.

Personal Experience
I have experienced many of the same issues as my clients. I’ve been made redundant (twice), spent periods of being unemployed and underemployed and have suffered the feeling of despair because of a lack of a credible career direction. These are issues that I can now help you with.

On a personal note, originally from London, I currently live near Nottingham and enjoy sports, including Football and (trying to play) Tennis.

Email me or give me a call if you want to know more.

I only offer Google Meet, Zoom and Skype sessions at the moment. However, this does mean I’m available to work with you regardless of where you live in the UK or Ireland.
